Sporotrichosis fungal skin disease

โรคผิวหนังจากเชื้อรา Sporotrichosis

Makrut, a stray cat, is about 5 years old. The owner brought her for treatment because she had skin wounds spreading across her face, bridge of her nose, body, legs, and tail. The wounds are raised and in some places there are pits with a mixture of lymph and blood. The veterinarian took cells from the wounds and found that she had a deep fungal infection called Sporotrichosis.

Mostly caused by Sporotrix schenckii, a pathogen found in the environment, transmitted through wounds or scratches or bites. It can also be transmitted to mammals such as dogs or cats.

Importantly, this disease can be transmitted to humans and is often found in stray cats. Therefore, if you find a cat with this condition, you should wear gloves before handling it. This disease can be treated by taking antifungal medication, but it will take several months.
