Diet
Obesity in dogs
Raising dogs so they don't become pigs
“Obesity” is a popular health problem in modern society. Whether it is a human or a pet, being overweight is the cause of all diseases. For pets, whether dogs or cats, being overweight makes them susceptible to various diseases. Most importantly, it shortens their lifespan. Diseases that come with obesity are abnormal joints and movement, increasing the risk of problems.Hip degeneration Difficulty breathing, easy fatigue, high blood pressure, increased risk of liver disease, kidney disease, increased risk ofHeart disease The liver's function is deteriorating due to fat accumulation within the liver. Reproductive ability is reduced due to thick fat in the testicles in males that weigh much more than females, making them unable to mate. The mating rate is low, the number of puppies per litter is low, and birth is difficult due to fat accumulating in the pelvic area, obstructing birth. There is no strength to push during birth.
Obese dogs have a low tolerance to hot weather, are more likely to have skin infections, are more likely to develop tumors, and are at risk when treated with anesthesia because many anesthetics accumulate in fat cells, making them last longer, reducing resistance to disease, and are at higher risk of developingDiabetesMore than that, when pets are at a suitable weight, it is an indication that our dog is overweight or not. There is an easy way to classify from the proportions of the dog's body at 4 points: ribs, tail, side body and upper body. Classify the size into very fat, fat and complete according to the Body Condition Score (BCS) principle as follows:

If you want your dog to be smart and well-proportioned, you want your dog to be a “dog…not a pig.” Here's how to raise your dog so that it doesn't get fat:
1. Don't spoil your dog When he comes to ask for food, the owner must give up and not give him anything to eat because if he gives it once, there will be more times to come.
2. Don't please people Everyone in the house must cooperate and not give any food at all, apart from their regular food. Sigh… this is where things get annoying.
3. Feed according to quantity In the case of providing ready-made food, the amount must be calculated based on the dog's weight, as specified on the bag or box. The appropriate number of meals is 2 meals, morning and evening.
4. Home-cooked food should not be given. Because home-cooked food can easily make your dog fat, as it contains both starch and fat.
5. If you don't finish eating, throw it away. It should not be left out all day long, and if you have several, each should be given its own food. If it has finished eating its own food, it should not eat the others.
6. Keep trash cans tightly closed. Prevent digging for scraps of food to eat
7. Stop buffet eating habits Some dogs like to go out and beg for food at other houses or restaurants. We must prevent them from going out.
8. Exercise regularly Exercise helps burn energy and excess fat, preventing your dog from becoming fat.
9. Avoid dairy products Sweets, flour, and sugar are the best things that can make you fat. You must absolutely avoid them.
10. Always remember that humans are the ones who turn dogs into pigs. Dogs alone cannot open the refrigerator.Or find food to eat until you become as fat as a pig.
Diet control
Diet control is the best way to treat obesity in dogs if done correctly. Dogs should lose weight under the care of a veterinarian. The doctor will assess the current weight criteria to see how fat they are and what their ideal weight should be, and then plan a weight loss. The veterinarian will calculate the amount of food the owner eats per day. A good weight loss should be about 1-2 % per week. It should not be lost too quickly because it may cause the dog to lack nutrients and have other health problems. Also, the amount of food should not be controlled to be too little until the dog feels hungry because it may cause stress and manifest as behavioral problems. The most convenient food for dogs to lose weight is ready-made food specifically for weight loss, which comes in both pellet and canned forms. These foods are usually low in fat and high in fiber, so the amount of food eaten does not decrease but does not contain too much energy, making the dog feel full and not stressed. It also contains all the necessary nutrients for the body. In addition, some brands of pellet food have hollowed-out pellets, making the dog feel like it is eating the same amount of food and not feeling hungry. Home-cooked food can also be given, but it is a bit difficult to prepare.

Exercise
Exercise is a way to help your dog stay healthy (just like in humans). Recommended exercises include swimming (very suitable for dogs that are obese and have joint problems), walking, jogging, and playing Frisbee. In healthy dogs, exercise helps relieve stress, builds muscle and improves the functioning of the body system, and also improves the relationship between the owner and the pet. Remember that dogs are not pigs. We can raise them to be happy and comfortable, but we must not spoil them, no matter how much we spoil them. Be strong-willed. Importantly, if they are not fat, it means that we have created good health and a long life for them as well.
Things to know for owners of obese dogs
- The most important part in losing weight for dogs is the owner. From my personal experience, more than 50% of overweight dogs who failed to lose weight were because of their owners. For example, some people see dogs begging for food or treats and cannot resist giving them, which results in unsuccessful weight loss.
- Losing weight is not about reducing the amount of food you give your dog, but rather about reducing the energy and fat it gets from food. If you reduce the amount of food immediately, some dogs will experience extreme hunger, which can stress them out.
- Many dog treats provide energy and may contribute to obesity.
- Be sure to let everyone in the house know that your dog is starting a weight loss program.
- Observe whether your dog is hungry or not feeling full after switching to a diet food.
If you feel hungry all the time, you should go back and inform your doctor to adjust the amount or change it.
Types of food to be fed - If your dog refuses to eat diet food, you can start by mixing the old food with diet food and gradually reduce the amount.
The same food gradually decreased until it finally became diet food only.

Underwater treadmill with the feature of supporting all four legs of pets to bear less weight. The weight that the dog will walk on the water will decrease according to the height of the water level. For example, if the water is up to the dog's hip joint, the weight that the dog puts on the legs will be only 38 %. In addition, the water pressure helps reduce swelling and inflammation of the joints. Walking on the underwater treadmill is a highly effective exercise. It is a treatment that helps increase the performance of the nervous system, muscles, tendons of the four legs better than swimming in a pool or hydrotherapy alone. It is a treatment that treats symptoms directly. Supervised and treated by a specialized veterinarian.
