For humans, donating blood is like extending life to help other humans. But do many humans know that pets can also donate blood to help other animals?
When animals are sick, there are many cases where they need blood, just like humans. Currently, there is a problem of a large number of sick animals lacking blood. Animal blood is even rarer than human blood. As a result, there are many sick animals lacking blood for treatment. Some animals even die while waiting for donations. Of course, animal lovers cannot help but feel sorry when they see sick dogs or cats, but they are afraid that if they bring their pets to donate blood, they will get sick or have many side effects. Let me tell you that donating blood is not as scary as you think.
“Donating blood is not dangerous for pets.”
Bringing your pet to donate blood is like removing old blood from your dog or cat. Then, their body will create new red blood cells to circulate in their body, resulting in the animal being healthier and stronger. Isn't that unexpected?

If your dog or cat meets the above criteria, you can bring them to donate blood. The steps for donating are as follows:
Pet blood donation process
- 1. Physical examination and blood tests, including blood count, blood parasite and heartworm test, liver test, kidney test to assess health and physical well-being.
- Blood is drawn from a large vein in the neck or arm. If the dog or cat is excited or restless, it may be sedated to make it slightly drowsy before drawing blood. For each blood donation, 10-20 cc of blood will be collected per 1 kilogram of body weight, but not more than 1 unit (350-450 cc).
- After donating blood, a record of every blood donation will be kept and blood tonics will be given to you to take home to nourish your body.
Many people think that bringing pets to donate blood will make dogs and cats sick more easily, but that's not true. Donating blood will help animals stay healthy because new blood cells are produced. It also builds immunity for dogs and cats. In addition to our pets helping other animals when they need blood when they are sick, donating blood is also good for their health.
The blood from one pet can save the lives of many other species. Donate blood to your pet. It's not as scary as you think.
