Hip osteoarthritis

Hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia are common in large breed dogs such as Great Danes, Boxers, Saint Bernards, Golden Retrievers, Labradors, German Shepherds, Siberian Husky, and Rottweilers. These are genetic diseases and can be caused by environment and upbringing.

symptom

1. Weak legs, the back legs drag on the ground.
2. Poor balance, not wanting to walk or run.
3. Make a jumping motion with both legs like a rabbit.
4. Standing with shaking legs and walking with a limp.
5. The hind legs twist to the side or stand with feet spread apart.
6. Not getting up and walking for a long time may cause muscle atrophy.

Treatment guidelines

1. History taking and physical examination
2. X-rays to assess the severity of the disease.
3. Arrange appropriate exercise programs such as hydrotherapy, underwater treadmills to restore muscle strength.
4. Treatment with medication to reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
5. Surgical surgery
