Check it out! Your dog farts often, a dangerous sign you should know about.

While sitting still, your nose senses some energy. It's the little rascal next to you who farted. Moreover, the smell is strong and toxic to the nasal cavity. Although farting is a natural thing, when a dog farts, the owner usually laughs and feels sorry for it. However, if our dog farts too often, this could be a warning sign indicating the dog's health. Let's see what causes farts in dogs.

Reasons why dogs fart

There are many reasons why dogs fart. It can be a problem with internal systems such as the digestive system, intestines, but some behaviors can also cause dogs to fart. However, all of these causes are signs that your dog may have a health problem.

1. There is a large amount of gas accumulated in the digestive tract.

Dogs can also have gas just like humans. Gas in dogs’ digestive tracts can be caused by several factors. Some dogs are greedy and like to eat food and drink too fast, which can cause them to swallow air while eating, causing gas to build up. As a result, a lot of gas builds up in their digestive tract, so they have to release the gas, which is by farting.

2. Feeding your dog food that can easily cause gas.

Food is also a major cause of farting in dogs, whether it be expired food, high-fat dairy products, nuts, spicy food, food with too much fiber, including food that is not up to standard in production and has preservatives. Owners should avoid such foods because they can easily cause gas in the dog's stomach and bloating. Therefore, dog food should consist of easily digestible protein so that the body can use all the nutrients.

3. The dog eats too much food.

In addition to food, eating behavior is another factor that causes dogs to fart. Owners may indulge them by letting them eat a lot until they get used to it, or some dogs like to eat food quickly and cannot digest it in time. Although eating quickly does not seem to be a big problem, eating in a hurry causes dogs to have bloating and fart easily because the food that has not been digested remains in the intestines and becomes gas. When it accumulates a lot, the body will expel it in the form of farts.

4. Weak digestive system

Dogs with health problems, especially weak digestive systems, their bodies digest food less and more slowly than other dogs, causing a lot of food to remain in their intestines, which is the cause of gas and bloating that makes dogs fart frequently.

5. There is an abnormality in the intestines.

If our dog has intestinal problems, it will result in his body not being able to digest and absorb food normally. Problems that may occur include inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal tumors, etc., causing bacteria to grow in the intestines abnormally and produce more gas, resulting in bloating and frequent farting.

How to solve the problem of dogs farting frequently

If you notice that your dog farts more often than usual, you may want to change his food and eating habits. Choose larger kibbles so that your dog can chew and take his time eating. You may want to increase the number of meals but give him smaller portions instead, and control the amount per meal so that your dog does not overeat.

In addition, you should choose quality food. Do not let your child eat spoiled food. Also, avoid food that is at risk of causing gas in the body. Do not let him eat whatever he wants, which will have negative effects on his health.

Even though dogs fart, it may not seem like a big deal, but owners should observe it because it could be a sign that warns us of health problems. What started as a joke may not be funny if our dogs' health worsens from the owners' neglect. If their digestive system or intestines are allowed to have chronic problems, it may result in some dogs being lethargic, having diarrhea, and vomiting. Therefore, if your dog farts too often, you should take him to see a veterinarian to find out the real cause and see if your dog has any abnormalities.
